Classic Micro-rotor Salon Des Horlogers Edition
LAURENT FERRIER has unveiled the Classic Micro-Rotor – Salon des Horlogers Edition, a stainless steel sporty-chic wristwatch with a two-tone blue sector dial. Two years in the making, and limited to just 25 pieces, this exclusive edition was created in collaboration with Salon des Horlogers – the Geneva-based retailer of luxury independent watchmakers.
Established in 2018 as a platform to promote independent watchmaking, and based in the historic watchmaking center of Geneva, the Salon is a private sanctuary for clients to have a hands-on experience of these watches. The Salon can further organise atelier visits for the client to meet the craftspeople who create these masterpieces, and to learn more about the nuances of fine watchmaking.
In creating their first ‘Salon des Horologers Edition’, the retailer and LAURENT FERRIER have revisited the Art Deco aesthetic, introducing a contemporary twist. The result is a resolutely original timepiece, complying with Laurent Ferrier’s signature design codes.
AN EXCLUSIVE DIAL
The dial is enhanced with harmoniously varied tones and textures through associating a deep blue grained center, a matt white coated the chapter ring, a deep blue sunburst brushed outer ring, a blue opaline seconds sub dial and a fine matt white transfer around the periphery. The dial is also graced with matt white coated “Assegai-shaped” hour and minute hands enhanced with a matching baton-shaped second hand.
A CLASSIC CASE
The LAURENT FERRIER signature is clearly apparent in the curve of the stainless-steel case that picks up the pure aesthetic in-house codes in the now distinctive Classic shape that harks back to a pebble shape and to the understated models of 19th century horological history.
The “Assegai-shaped” hands are stamped in order to achieve the characteristic extreme slenderness of LAURENT FERRIER model; while its “ball-shaped” winding crown ensures pleasantly smooth handling.
SUPERLATIVE FINISHING
The exceptional finishing of the movement is crafted in the finest watchmaking traditions in LAURENT FERRIER’s Geneva workshops. In addition to a Côtes de Genève pattern on the bridges and the circular graining on the mainplate, the flanks are hand-drawn, the wheel spokes are bevelled, the screw heads are polished, and the interior angles are hand-crafted. The mirror polishing done by hand on the pawl, the balance-cock, and the micro-rotor bridge, as well as the guilloché motif on the 18-carat solid gold micro-rotor, gives this model an entirely distinctive radiance. The sapphire crystal case-back provides a glimpse of the finesse of this workmanship and reveals harmonious architecture stemming from a clever combination of lines and curves.
AN EFFICIENT MOVEMENT
The movement is a self-winding FBN 229.01 calibre, equipped with a unidirectional pawl-fitted micro-rotor and offering a three-day power reserve. A movement exclusive to LAURENT FERRIER, it is designed, assembled and adjusted in the LAURENT FERRIER workshops. It is fitted with a silicon escapement featuring a double direct impulse on the balance. This technology developed by Laurent Ferrier enables the balance to be impelled twice per oscillation, a principle that requires two escape-wheels and an appropriately shaped lever. This innovative construction, combined with the use of cutting-edge materials, maximises energy efficiency, thereby guaranteeing a high amplitude of the balance. This in turn reduces the amount of mechanical force required to wind the mainspring and optimises winding.
In endowing the Classic Micro-Rotor Salon des Horlogers with such attributes, Laurent Ferrier once again demonstrates its unconditional respect for classical fine watchmaking. Time should once again have no hold over this model that displays an authentic sense of detail.
“We are incredibly proud to have worked with Mr. Laurent Ferrier and his team to create our first Geneva boutique edition. An exclusive sporty-chic timepiece in stainless steel, the Classic Micro-Rotor Salon des Horlogers Edition is a testimonial to our support for the artisanal watchmaking community,” said Shahzaib Khan, Managing Director of Salon des Horlogers Geneva.
The Classic Micro-Rotor Salon des Horlogers, a limited edition of 25 pieces will be available directly from Salon des Horlogers through their Salon in Geneva.
