The 1740 – “The First 8”, is the first model David Candaux released with a watch bearing his name and for a starter has 3 patents and 8 design registrations.

Watchmaker since 2 decades, he started his career at Jaeger-LeCoultre later as engineer and movement developer for other brands such as  MB&F’s HM6 tourbillon.

Advised by the master Philippe Dufour to start his own brand, the 1740 (name inspired by the first registered presence of a watchmaker in the Vallée de Joux) was released in 2017.

All hand made with exceptional finishing, the tourbillon “bi-plan” is 30-degree inclined and to ensure constant chronometry, when the power reserve indicator falls below a certain level, the movement automatically stops.

A lot of offer were put into movement decoration, David plays with the angles like a maestro, the bridges are not all uniform and flat but are cascading with “Côtes du Solliat” finishing, a type of stripes designed by David Candaux.
