C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Edition Six MON00560

The C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Edition Six has been crafted to unveil the aesthetic technique of a finely hand-decorated movement. This final titanium 41mm, three-hands limited edition with a rubber strap, has been designed with a partially open dial, revealing a portion of the entirely hand-decorated movement.

The Titanium Editions by Romain Gauthier are modern timepieces that exhibit a sporty design, enclosing a titanium movement whose hand-finishing prowess can be admired through the case-back. The movement’s stunning features have been made visible from the front, enhancing the watch’s technical aesthetic. This design choice harkens back to the brand’s first timepiece, the Prestige HM, which evolved to reveal the seconds-hand mechanism on its sister caliber, the Prestige HMS.

The C by Romain Gauthier caliber, unveiled in 2021, is the result of more than 16 years of expertise acquired by the brand. It reflects Romain’s creative freedom with its modern and youthful design. The Freedom collection, technical in nature, casual in style, and free in spirit, has facilitated the creation of this contemporary caliber. The significance of this collection lies in its creative approach, reinforcing notions of continuity in its concept and design, referencing the Continuum.

During the creation process, the harmony between the case and movement was prioritized. The case had to be contemporary, uncluttered, comfortable, ergonomic, and made of Grade 5 titanium. The sapphire dial of this edition adds to the consistency of the piece, evoking a sense of continuity as no circle completes the time indication. Inspired by the finger bridges style, the movement’s design follows the watchmaking history of the Vallée de Joux, but with a modern approach, reflecting Romain’s vision of the evolution of tradition.

This sixth edition of the caliber in titanium is limited to 88 pieces, with each movement engraved “1 of 88.” The partially openwork dial features a sapphire dial that reveals the seconds mechanism and escapement. The seconds wheel, an aesthetic symbol unique to the brand, showcases the intricate care devoted to the finishing of each component. The partial opening also reveals the escapement assembly, decorated with a special hand-engraving technique that reproduces the boucharder texture found inside the movement’s bridges.

The titanium bezel features a geometric profile, unlike anything seen before on a Romain Gauthier timepiece. The bezel’s facets, polished to reflect light, contrast with the satin-finished surface that absorbs light. The one-piece caseband and lugs are geometrically sculpted, with satin and polished finishes and aesthetic grooves enhancing their shapes. The rubber strap with a titanium pin buckle follows the form of the angular lugs and rounded caseband, appearing as a continuous extension of the case.

The crown for winding and time-setting is placed at 2 o’clock, providing space for wrist movement and ease of manipulation, thanks to a rubber ring. The stop-seconds mechanism, using a snail cam, allows the wearer to set the time precisely according to a reference time. This unique mechanism not only stops the balance wheel but also gives it an impulse to start beating again when the crown is pushed back in.

The manual-winding, in-house movement, displayed through the back, features finger bridges with a contemporary reinterpretation. Made from lightweight, natural Grade 5 titanium, the bridges boast contrasting tones and textures, with double bevels and straight-grained borders framing the highly original dimpled texture. The hand-frosted movement mainplate, Romain’s trademark gears, ratchet wheel, and the polished click, snail cam, and screws with S-slot heads showcase the impressive decoration. The mainspring barrel lid is adorned with a superb snailing decoration.

The C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Edition Six, with its modernity and continuity in architecture and design, features off-center hour-minute hands, tapered hour markers, and distinctive orange lines marking the 5-second intervals at 7 o’clock. The 18k white gold hands and index, filled with Super-LumiNova, enhance legibility and presence. This exquisite timepiece exemplifies Romain Gauthier’s vision of the evolution of tradition and modernity.
